Beward of Some Online Banks and Lenders
Today you being the day searching google for the best Certificate of Deposit or Mortgage rate you can find. A plethora of results pop up and the “paid sponsored links” are showing some unbelieveable rates. Do youself a favor, turn off you computer.
Some of those links are scams and off-shore “banks”. One I came across with an 8.00% rate for a savings account was mlnbank dot com, or “Millenium Bank”. No FDIC insurer logo was to be found, nor was there an adress present. Plus, the design looked like something I could develop which isn’t anything to brag out.
Many of the top search links that show up under popular keywords on google and yahoo are legitimate. Others are not. The search engines usually do a good job of keeping most keywords out, however some bad websites get in the mix. Once a fake offshore bank uploads their amazing offer to the ad that is displayed, they can quickly change it. So, just as a quick tip…always look for an FDIC logo which every bank is to have on their website. Also, check for a secure link at the bottom of the webpage.
And if all else fails, search for the name of the bank or financial institution on the major search engines and do your research.
