$600- Is it enough?
Thank you President Bush and Rep. Pelosi for giving my parents $600 and myself roughly $300 to help stimulate the economy. I haven’t seen any figures at to exactly how many Americans are receiving this financial aid package, but I do know that the stimulus package was at $168,000,000,000. Sounds like a lot, doesn’t it?
168 Billion should be plenty to stimulate the economy. Eventually, all of it will be spent within a period of a year, if not a lot sooner. For me, $600 seems perfect. I can pay off my cell phone and utility bill as well as fill up my SUV with a few tanks of gas. Certainly, this stimulus package has been the highest in history with inflation included.
In my opinion, various economic factors such as the budget and trade deficits have led me to believe that we are heading toward a MINOR recession. Surprisingly, with out deficits, if we were heading to a huge recessionary period it would have happened already. The reason why I say it will be minor, is that all foreign economies have an effect on ours and vice versa. China, Japan, and Germany have been leading the east with amazing growth over the past 4-5 years.
With the $600, I anticipate that roughly $100 will be spent by each individual to go for wants, not needs such as entertainment spending and such. With about $30 billion being spend on wants, this is a sure fire way to pump up some stocks such as Disney, Wal-Mart, and BestBuy. Buy them now, their quartetly an yearly report numbers will be green.
